Education officials given Hi-Tech awareness by VanniTech

An innovative program was launched by VanniTech on May 23rd, 2007 to remove the obstacles in building up awareness on high-tech applications in the North-East region and to boost up the educational society to pave the way for ICT driven economy. The “Hi-Tech Awareness Program” was held by VanniTech faculty members during the second quarter break and it was experienced by the education officials from Zonal Education Department, Kilinochchi including Mr.S.Selvarajah, Deputy Director of Education for educational management, Assistant Directors for various disciplines, In-service Advisors, Divisional Education Officers, Teacher Center Manager and ICT Instructors.

An introduction on “VanniTech’s missions & visions and Path on ICT in our region” was given by Mr.K.Thayapararajh, president and it was followed by a presentation on “Automation of Office activities and Awareness on ICT” delivered by Mr.S.Gnanasuhathipan, lecturer and a demo on “LIMAS-Library Management System”, a dedicated application software, designed for automation of VanniTech’s library by one of the graduates, delivered by Mr.T.Vishnuthas, lecturer. After tea break, a demo on “Modern Communication System“ using VoIP technology and Wi-Fi networking was delivered by Mr.S.Elilkumaran, Asst. System Admin and Mr. A.Uthayaraj, Network Support Officer, TechShack to give a clear picture of how High-Tech applications are still possible in our region with the prior knowledge of cutting-edge technologies.

This educated society was made to envision the prospects of ICT development in the war-torn North-East Sri Lanka through a formal discussion led by Mr.K.Thayapararajh, president of VanniTech. Many valuable suggestions and proposals were brought into light by the representatives of educational society in building up the awareness and confidence among young generation of the Tamil nation to be technically par with the modern world.

“Once in a blue moon we got the opportunity to observe these advanced technologies. Thereafter we have no chance to participate seminars like these. Really we enjoyed it”, mentioned Mr. K. Mylvaganam, Assistant Director for English in his feedback. “VanniTech is a gateway for modern world of people in Vanni”, said Mr. P. Ganeshan, In-Service Advisor. “Within a short time we could learn the facts here that we were unable to gain even though we wandered so many places”, pointed out Mrs. I. Ariyaratnam, Divisional Education Officer, Karachchi. These precious comments specify that the community based voluntary ICT awareness programs would definitely take VanniTech towards the dream of Technology Park near future.
